Over the past two months there has been an increase in targeted hacking attacks against pro-Tibetan NGO's and Individuals. These attacks appear to have been primarily focused on installing Trojan software on end user PC's for the collection of data through keystroke logging and other methods.
Ironcove.net has put together a paper covering these attacks and looking at posisble motivations of the attackers and ways to avoid being affected by these types of attacks.
These types of attacks and ways to handle them should be considered by any nonprofit organisation in particular human rights workers and others who may be targeted for various reasons.
A new version of Ubuntu was released in the past couple of days, the use of Ubuntu Linux on the desktop is an excellent step in enhancing an end users desktop, this is one of the recommendations from the paper.
