The publication of a new book, Raising Thousands (if Not Tens of Thousands) of Dollars with Email, by Madeline Stanionis should be welcome news for nonprofits of all sizes that are trying to harness the Internet to grow their lists, engage constituents and raise money.  The book is written for and about nonprofits though it will be of interest to a wider range of institutions interested in online fundraising such as universities, hospitals, faith-based groups, and political campaigns.  I highly recommend it.

Idealware reviewed twenty-seven lower-priced online software tools that accept donations from an existing website. What they found was good news: many affordable tools are also powerful, friendly, and flexible. They offer recommendations for high-quality tools, as well as a method to choose the right tool for you.

10 Tips for Funding Technology

Submitted by mduffy on 2005, March 17 - 3:26pm.
Technology plans are great, but how are you going to pay for all the new equipment, training, and staffing costs your plan requires? There are no silver bullets when it comes to fundraising, especially during tough economic times. Here are ten tips to help you find the funds you need to implement and sustain your critical technology strategy.

1. Build strong relationships with funders.

2. Incorporate technology into your annual strategic plan.

3. Focus on your mission and your program, not technology for technology's sake.

4. Budget technology expenses as shared costs, not overhead.
