Exabyte Tape Drives

Thomas Taylor asked if the Exabyte VXA-2 Packet Tape drive is as good a deal as it seems at less than $900 for the drive. The other two drives he looked at (SDLT and LTO) were more than twice as expensive.

Benjamin Hendricks and Daniel Scharfman replied that they have had good experiences with the Exabyte drives, but noted the tapes are expensive. That point led Scott Dietrich to add that the LTO-2 could be more cost-effective depending on the tape rotation scheme.
